Ok, backstory,

I'm building(or rebuilding as it were) my HTPC into a more dedicated multitask machine thanks to Intel's little retail bundle thing. That's netting me a E6300, and I'm planning on putting a 7900GS(or 1900XT depends on price when this happens), 2gigs of RAM, and new storage in a new box and going with it.

Here's the question.


What I'm really planning on doing for storage space is starting small as most of the budget is being spent on other parts of the machine. Planning on a 250gig HDD (either Seagate, WD or I've been reading good things about the speed of the Hitachi disks as well) partitioning this into 2 disks to have a nice spot to store all those lovely things I always forget to backup when I format the system(I.e. a storage drive for patch files, data, music, misc crap like that) and a boot drive, which is just going to be programs/windows. That way I can reformat more simply in the future.

The other drive I'm thinking of starting with a 320gig drive from the same guys above. But I plan on adding on to that later, and I'm trying to plan ahead. If I added a 500-750gig hard drive later, would the best option for making SageTV use both of these drives as a "single" drive be JBOD, or is there a verison of "actual" RAID I should be using?
