hey i have a 80 gb wd hard drive and a 40 gb maxtor drive

i hooked them up to the raid and when i go to my computer it shows both those drives (c) and (e) respectively, but then it shows another drive called system_sav (f)

what is that third drive?

also, i can see my 2nd (e) drive's files but i cant access them. for instance i can see an mp3 i have on the 2nd drive but i cant play the mp3.

what raid (if any) do i go into to access this second drive. i would love it if you went through the steps with me (the program is called via RAID tool).

THANK YOU SO MUCH,

noooobieee

If you see both drives seperatly - c & e - you don't have RAID.
Just because they are on a raid controller doesn't mean they are configured to be an array.

What version of Windows do you have?
Where did these drives come from?

when i built my new comp, i got a new 80 hard drive but now i wanna use all my old files from the 33 gig as well (the drive is from a compaq i got at best buy about 3-4 years ago).

and i am running xp pro

the system sav (F) is probably a system restore partition from the compaq. you can reformat it and erase it. Also if you can see the files but cant acess them, you need to "take ownership" of those files again. Windows wont let you acess them, unless it knows that they are your files.
