I upgraded my mb to GA-7N400 Pro2
nForce2 Ultra400 chipset .

One of the reasons I chose this board was the Onboard Serial RAID controller AND onboard ATA raid controller. I really have two problems and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got Windows installed no problem on my two WD 37gb Raptors in Raid 0 by hitting f6 etc... and loading raid controller for SATA.

After windows built itself, the GIGA raid for the ITE/ATA drives also recognizes that two WD 120 gb drives are on a raid zero. However, Windows only sees my SATA array as drive C. There is no drive D with my other ATA raid zero on it. The utilities Giga provides see the array from windows. Can someone tell me how to tell windows about the extra drive and to give it a letter?

I expected these drives to scream in Raid 0. I had put them in a friends computer and windows loaded in 9 minutes! My windows loaded in 12 minutes (comprible with my system) but when i ran pcmark04, the tests on the drive performance of the raptors is LESS than my old computer with a ATA raid on my two 120 WD's

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure about the performance part....but I think your missing the one very obvious step.

To see the second array in Windows, and give it a letter, you need to format it...or else Windows will have no idea how to "read" the drive.
 
Thanks, the utility didn't give me that option or I missed it. I will give it a closer look.
 
It's done in the Windows Drive Management. The RAID utilities only setup the drive and stripe them (or mirror). They don't do the actual formatting. Your Windows setup formatted the C drive for you.
 
How do I get to the Windows Drive Management in Win XP Pro after it loads. Sorry for my ignorance.
 
Right click on My COmputer and pick manage. It will be one of the snap-ins on the left column of the management console.
