I have a western digital 80 gig 7200 HDD (WD800JB) and a 120 gig 7200 HDD (WD1200JB) and was wondering if it is possible to get a RAID card and use the RAID 0 option. I dont have the money to purchase another HDD to make a pair for the 80 or 120 but i have enough for a RAID card. Are the performance gains enough to purchase the RAID card? THANKS

For the typical single user, you really wont notice much of a difference. You should save your money.

You might be able to get RAID 0 to work, but you'll lose 40 gigs from the 120.

Just tweak out your system by defragging and sticking your swap file on the second drive.

It might work...but it would chop the 120 down to an 80 GB. It probably would be unstable as hell, so I guess the answer is...nope.

I agree that you'll get more reasonable performance/price solution by moving your swap to secondary drive, instead of sacrificing 40gigs of space to the redundant-array gods...
