ive got an nf7 mobo with a promise fastrak100 tx2 raid controller. i have two maxtor 120gig hdds connected to it. the bios on the controller is up to date as is the drivers. the drivers and bios on my mobo are pretty up to date.... im fixing to check to make sure there arent newer ones. my write speeds (as reported by sisoft sandra) is very slow, im talking 7mb. i read something i found through a google search about the nvidia nforce boards having some probs with pci controllers. heres the link to what i read http://tech-report.com/news_reply.x/3675/4/ . do any of you know any more about this or what could cause the prob.

thanks for the help.

i just bumped up the cpu to 2.5 today and my ram timings arent as tight. but the benchmark results havent changed any. i just ran ATTO disk benchmark and its confirms the sisoft results.

Interesting Article but did you read the thread below it?

the thread they refer to at Storagereview with the busted links is this one
http://forums.storagereview.net/index.php?showtopic=1758

the whole thing looks like a serious can of worms
and while I was aware of the SCSI issues,
I wasnt aware of exactly how they are impacting the nForce boards

I'll be researching a bit on this when there is time

Good Luck ;)

Woot!!! got it all taken care of now. called abit, that didnt help. but, then i called promise and it took two different calls but the second time around the dude told me to install the utility that came with it, change some settings and it actually worked. i is a happy person now.

promise told me to install the p.a.m. (promise array manage). then to uncheck the s.m.a.r.t. option and enable the hdd cache option. they also told me to make sure to put the card in the 2nd pci slot and to make sure that there is no irq conflicts. thats pretty much it. it all worked just fine once i installed the p.a.m. and changed those two settings.
