I'm looking to setup a RAID5 array and already have 2 1TB drives so I was wondering if it was possible to setup an array with 2 1TB HD's and a 2TB in RAID5?

RAID5 requires a minimum of 3 drives. If you purchase another 1TB drive, then you can indeed set up RAID5.

If you're simply looking for redundancy, you can set up RAID1 with 2 drives :)

Yes, you can run those 3 drives in r5.. However..

Raid will run as big per drive capacity as the smallest drive, so you would loose half your capacity of the 2tb.

Thank you Nacho. I thought that was the case but I wanted to verify. :)

Oops! Misread your first post. You have 3 drives so yes you can run RAID5, however the 2TB drive will be treated as a 1TB, giving you 2TB of storage + redundancy. :)
