I ahve 2 120 WD sata caviers drive and they are not RAIDed currently however I have had them in a RAID 0 and raid 1 setup for acouple weeks just to try it out...

I am fairly sure you can run a raid 5 setup with 3 drives but I was wondering how it works.... is it a RAID0 setup with a full backup of the RAID0 array on the 3rd drive? with 3 120s would I get 120 worth of storage or 240gb?

also on of my drives whines and then it make a discharging kind of noise.. it works fine but the noise is wierd is the drive failing? It passes error detection and SMART
