RAID 5 unaccessable after OS re-install

At my office, our storage server w/ RAID 5 died on us a little while ago and we had to replace and re-install the OS hard drive (not on RAID). After we re-installed, we view the RAID setup, it has a drive letter, but says that it cannot be accessed and shows up as not having a file system at all. In Computer Managment, it shows the drive, but no file system and says "healthy," with full capacity, and 100% free space.

We are using an Adaptec ATA RAID 2400A card with four 80GB drives in RAID 5, and then another 80 GB drive for the OS. Computer had Windows XP Pro before the crash, now has Windows XP 2003 Server on it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what we need to do to get the info from the RAID back, it's fairly critical (although not a life and death situation, it'd make the boss very happy) that we get this data back, it's for business use.
 
Just a hunch here that it's a driver bug. Be sure to check the array either in the bios or management software and see if it's still intact. I've been under the impression for some time that 2400As were somewhat flaky to begin with (well, it is ATA), and under Win2003 a complete nightmare. Be damn sure to contact Adaptec's support about this, though, you paid for it, after all. If they can't help you, and if nobody else has a good suggestion, maybe even try reverting to XP Pro and seeing if it comes back.
 
I had a probelm with my older Adaptec U2W RAID5 setup ... after a OS reinstall (Win2k) i could not access the data ... after playing around for some time trying to install newer drivers i uninstalled the card once again and installed the old drivers that came on the Floppy disks ... works ...
 
I assume youve dealt with the NTFS permissions?
disable simple file sharing and take ownership of files and folders?

its not plaided or anything?
(Software RAID on top of Hardware RAID)
if its dyanmic disks it needs to be imported
but then it would be marked Foreign

That would have been too simple ;)

The Partitions simply didn't show up in the Manager (no Dynamic Disks)

so would have been tightening my wheels lug nuts when I heard that weird sound
but the wheel came off in traffic anyway :eek:

I wasted a half hour inspecting the steering and suspension, and overlooked the obvious :rolleyes:
