Just got a phone call from one of my friends, he is having some nasty issues with his array. this is what happened:
He has a Promise Supertrak rx8350 PCI-Express 4x raid card with six 400GB HDs all Seagate in a raid 5 array. Tonight he added 2 more Seagate 400GB drives in slots 7 and 8 and started to migrate the array from 6 drives to 8.
During the process he lost drive 7 (not sure what happened log sais afterwards the drive was unplugged so maybe it lost power or something). Well the build continued until he had a time out on disk 2 and then the logical drive array went offline.
Now when he boots up he can see all the drives plugged in just fine but the logical drive continues to be offline.
Does anyone have any ideas on how he can rebuild his array to recover his data, or is it pretty much game over?
Another smaller issue is that it seems XP can only recognize at most 2TB drives any workarounds for that?
Thank you in advance for all your replies.
