Hello,
I am having difficulty setting up a Raid 1 configuration on my Windows XP x-64 machine. I am a photographer, so please pardon my non-expertise in this area.
I have bought a dual drive hotswap SATA-Vue system (http://www.granitedigital.com/catalog/pg53_satahot-swapbackup.htm) for backups of my image files. What I was hoping to do was to have the second drive mirror the contents of the first drive.
I got the PCI-express controler card installed properly, which uses a Silicon Image chip (Sil 3132 for Windows XP 64). Plus, both drives installed properly and are recognizable in Disk Management.
However, when going through the New Volume Wizard, I only receive three choices for volumes, (1) Simple, (2) Spanned, and (3) Striped. Though I might add in the description above the three choices it says, "There are five types of volumes: simple, spanned, striped, mirrored, and Raid-5"
Either of the drives format under those three choices. But I want to set them up so that the second mirrors the first.
I really appreciate any suggestions and advice on how to do this!
Not sure if this is necessary information... but in my Device Manager, under the SCSI and RAID controllers section, I have three items listed: (1) NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA RAID Controller, (2) NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA RAID Controller, and (3) Silicon Image Sil3132 SATALink Controller. (Not sure why numbers 1 & 2 are the same...)
