Raid 1 drive in a non raid system?

If i have 2 drives in a raid 1 setup can i pull one drive out of the raid and drop it into another system and see what is on that drive or does the raid 1 encode it differently?
 
as long as you don't set it to master for booting, sticking it in another box will work fine.

RAID1 is mirrored, so both are identical, so both are 'real' drives.
