RAID 1 a good choice?

Building a family computer for basic tasks (folding too of course!) which will also be used as a "HTPC" for recording video or just watching video.

I figured RAID 1 would be good to use since I won't really be storing much data on this computer (video recordings will be transferred to a different computer). One thing I just thought about is that write performance on RAID 1 is lowered, think that will be a problem since this computer will be recording uncompressed video?

Striping Width is 1, Striping Block is 64K - do those values look ok? I just set it to optimal block size. This is for 300gb drives btw.

So does it make sense to use RAID 1 for this application?
 
Are you recording SD? What's the target bitrate? I'm guessing that raid 1 will handle it just fine.
