RAID 0 with WD & Maxtor Drives??

Hey,
Can I setup a RAID 0 array with a Western Digital ATA100 and a Maxtor ATA 133 drive? Both are 120GB, 7200RPM, 8MB cache. Or should I use exact brands and same ATA speeds?

You could do it and it will work as any drive can be raided with any drive.

BUT you probably wont get good results.

So unless your useing over 120 Gb in a single file I would not bother. :p

I come to the conclusion that using RAID 0 is a waste of time. Sure you will get a slight performance boost but on the downside if one drive goes bad you loose all data or you are forced to re-do the computer hard drive... All I really want to say is that if you have RAID 0 and you are not backing up you are playing russian roullette with your configuaration and hard drive :mad:
 
I used to raid to 80GB drives. All untill one of them died and I lost all my infortmation. Then I got the replacement in the mail, and took my two 80s and a 120gb drive and I connected them all together called JBOD. Or just a bunch of disks. I don't get the raid speed, but if one drives goes, I only lose what is on the drive. Since I use that drive for mass storage, speed really doesn't matter too much. And to tell you the truth, I haven't even noticed any speed difference.
