Raid 0 with reinstall?

I've never done raid before but im planning on using my 2 caviar black 1tbs in raid 0
my boot/os drive is the crucial m4 and will be using gigabyte x79 ud5

I don't need to reinstall win7?

If you are not changing your boot drive, you don't need to reinstall. Just hook the two drives to two of the Intel SATA2 ports and create the RAID in the BIOS. Make sure that the SSD is still the boot drive in the boot options list, reboot and go to Disk Management to format the array. As always, make sure you have a good backup strategy in place.

For both harddrives and even SSDs this is the best option. For hard drives you lose nothing at all by going down to SATA II. For SSDs you lose some performance for large sequential reads / writes and gain performace in random reads / writes but how much do you read and write large files sequentially?
 
I edit videos but not on the ssd
Created the array but it won't let me boot into windows
Didn't select ssd and it's still the boot?
 
found out that its a bsod
disabling raid allows me to be back to boot back
 
Put the SSD on a Marvell port for one boot with the Intel in RAID mode. The Intel RAID driver will then install (or install it yourself by dling the latest from Intel), and you can put the SSD back on the Intel, it will work after that.

which driver would that be?
the rapid storage/matrix does not seem to work
