Title tells. Is this possible? I am new to the RAID scene, and I just bought a board with onboard RAID and want to know if it will work with 2 different drives.

yes

I had a 1 40gb WD and 1 40GB maxtor at RAID0 for over a year

I believe it will also work with 2 diferent size drives. However both drives will show up at the capacity of the smallest one of the pair . For example a 40 gig drive and a 60 gig drive will ony show up as 2 40 gigs. (or 1 80 gig if your doing RAID 0

correct.
Defaults to smallest drive in raid set.
