RAID 0, two partitions, copying slow!

I have two Seagate 7200.10 250 GB drives in RAID 0.

Whenever I copy files from one partition to another (40 GB) & (460 GB) it's a quite a bit slower than copying to/from same partition.

For example, a 300 MB file would take a few seconds ... is this normal? Or am I expecting too much from my setup?

Time for a Raptor I guess ... :(

Copying from one partition to another means long seeks, all the time. That means slow copy speeds are to be expected. Separating the two disks into single drives rather than a raid volume would yield much better disk-to-disk bandwidth; I did tests on this a while back and found a factor of 3 speedup with two volumes on two disks instead of one raid 0 volume.

Damn x_x I never thought of this when I built the array.

Do you recommend any good programs to help me re-size the partitions? Of course without destroying the data, and keeping everything good and gravy.
