RAID 0 Stopped, Trying to recover

This is technically my friend's system, but I'm trying to get it working again. Here's the deal:

It has 2 150GB raptors in raid, a 1TB bulk drive, and 300GB crap drive. The RAID 0 stopped working suddenly after the system was shut down for a weekend. On boot it detects the drives in RAID 0 but wouldn't boot into XP. The drives pass SMART as well as a few other tests off UBCD so I'm relatively sure they're both ok, they just don't want to boot. FIXMBR didn't work off the recovery console either.

So my idea was to install Win7 on the crap drive and try to access them through that. Now that's done, but it isn't showing or initializing the array in Win7, though they show up in Disk Management.

Any suggestions to recovering this data, save running a data recovery utility? That'll be my final option if all else fails, as my luck with recovery has been limited (especially with RAID 0) but I'm hoping there's an easier method.

Any takers? Much thanks in any advance!

Disregard this. I'm guessing his RAID controller is shot. We're gonna try a controller from Best Buy and then test their return policy :)

Raid 0 offers no recovery. The array probably went corrupt. Try a run scandisk maybe? More than likely the info is lost. This is why you don't run RAID 0 with any important files/info. I have a synctoy job that runs nightly to copy important files/folders from my RAID array to a RAID5 array. Never keep anything important on a RAID 0 array unless you're backing it up often.

Unless the replacement controller is identical to the original controller it probably wont work.
