RAID 0 Question

So I purchased a new MOBO (990FX Sabertooth Rev2) and a new CPU (FX 8350). Got them installed last night without any problems. I go in and setup BIOS set SATA 1-4 to RAID and 5-6 to IDE. Get to the RAID ROM screen and it wont let me define or view any drives.

The drives DO show up in BIOS/Windows(However unaccessbile in windows) so I know its getting the signal but in the RAID ROM its acting like theyre not even there.

It's been a while since Ive setup a RAID, so I think Im forgetting something. Even if I had the RAID setup on the last MOBO with no problems to speak of, would I need to completely reformat and wipe the drives in order to define the RAID on the new MOBO? Or should I be able to define the RAID in the RAID ROM and still have all my data (Just like I did on last MOBO/RAID setup)?

This is being done with 2 WD Caviar Blacks which are guaranteed working with brand new SATA cables. I AM able to boot into windows as Im also using a SSD as the boot drive. The RAID 0 was just for my huge steam collection.

RAID array should show on new motherboard. Double check your BIOS settings again. Maybe the SATA 5-6 are throwing a monkey wrench into things. If you can, disable or let the RAID bios control those as well.

So even with a new MOBO I shoudnt need to wipe/reformat and re-establish the raid?

I do not mean to hi-jack this thread in any way, I just have a very similar setup, same drives etc. Its my first time to attempt raid and don't know where to start

Figured out problem. Apparently with this sabertooth board there are 8 SATA slots. The first 2 (which are a different color) are the extra 6.0 slots. Which DO NOT count as slots 1-4 or 5-6 for that matter. So After getting the cables in the correct slots (1-4) it booted right up with no problems.

Xantac...if you'd like to PM me I can walk you through it, barring any dumb issues, it's super simple.

Thanks guys!

Awesome thank you, I'll have the drives in about a week or so. I just wanted to ask others before I started plugging stuff together :p
