Radio through speakers

A buddy of mine just moved into a new apartment and when he hooked up his pc he found that he could hear a radio station through the speakers. Both his and his roomates do this, but he said one is a little louder.

Any solutions for getting this to stop?

this hapened with my old speakers. i think it was the onboard sound, but iam not an expert.

Anyone have any other ideas? I cant imagine the sole reason is the onboard sound card, considering a ton of people have them and not all have this issue.

My speakers do that as well. It has to do with unshielded cables; when near enough to a radio station, normal copper wire attracts FM signals. To prevent this, get shielded cable. It's more expensive, but will get rid of the problem.

The unshielded cables comment is correct. An antenna is just a bare copper wire. What are audio cables? That's right, bare copper wire.

There's a good chance that the coating of your speaker wire is stripped off somewhere. That's the problem. The only solutions are fix it or buy new speakers.

Pick up some snap on ferrite beads from your local supplier.
