I've got a ginormus triple radiator and the easiest place toput it would be in the floor of my case, the case has a kind of stand so it's about and 1.5" off the ground. With 3 fans blowing out would it still be ineffective with the heat trying to rise?

Don't know for sure, but you could always build a shroud that directed the air to the side...would help keep the noise down too if you damped the shroud.

the issue with the heat wanting to rise doesn't matter, the fans will be venting the air out of the bottom, dont worry about the fact that heat rises (that is only when there isn't a fan blowing said air downwards at 40cfm + :) )

If you are experiencing poor performance you can try to raise the case off the ground a lil more or make a lil duct like the previous poster suggested, I dont think you will have a problem with a 1.5" clearance though.

I had considered using the same set up (rads on the bottom of the case) just because I thought I could keep the hoses shorter and straighter than if I dragged them to the top of a full tower case. I've seen several people who've done the same thing so I'm going to have to agree with Erasmus354, with a fan or two blowing air out of the bottom of the case it really shouldn't be much of a problem. Even the ambient heat from the side of the radiator should either be drawn into the fan as it rises past them or be easy to vent with a single exhaust fan at the top of the case. You should be fine (especially with a case that must be on stilts... 1.5" feet? Wow!)

I've built myself a top-side radiator mount for mine. It is mounted a few inches above the case top using standoffs (that are also mounted to the case). This way, my radiator doesn't have to interact with any hot air from the case and I don't have to use up any interior space for the radiator/fans.

Apologenetic, have you ever thought about building a radiator box? Put your rad, fans and pump into a box made of plywood or MDF (medium density fiberboard). That way all you to do is run hoses into and out of the case. That's what I plan to do later this year.

It did cross my mind but i dont like the idea of water going in and out of the case. I dont want anything to hit the tubes and spray water everywhere! :p

how about this, mount it on the top, except with the radiator outside of teh case and have the fans inside. Then, pull air in and use every other hole in the case as an exhaust.
Thats should clear nearly every case out there (probly even the mini-itx ones)

The problem with that is one of the 120mm is still going to be covered bt the PSU. I already started cutting, The hole will be in the bottom and the fans inside. I wanted this to be as self-contained as possible, as little evidence of watercooling from the outside as possible. I'm accutally finishing up painting, this turned into a bigger project I just went nuts on the thing, thanks for all the input I'm putting up a worklog hopefully soon I'll link you guys then.
