Radiator + Fans: Push or Pull?

When setting up a radiator, is it better to have the fans pull air away from the radiator, or push it into the radiator?

Maybe, but are there any actual reviews that compare them?

Edit: Just to throw in my own observations right now, my temps were about 5 degrees lower pushing air onto my rad (I'm upgrading hence the question). Any explanation for this, if pulling is supposed to be better?
 
If you look around there are lots sites the say pull is better. When I set up my rig I didn't see any temp diff, but I did notice noise. Pulling is much quiter then pushing and that too is on a lot of sites. It is supposed to be more efficent to pull but I didn't see it however the noise volume alone was worth it for me.
 
I think there's something majory wrong here then...

First and foremost, my noise is the same. I switch between 50% fan and 70% fan. (It's an ultra-hi speed Panaflo), and the noise between push and pull is the same. Now, my temps:

Idle (50%), Push: 26-28 degrees.
Idle (50%), Pull: 32-35 degrees.

Load (70%), Push: 51-54 degrees.
Load (70%), Pull: 57-60 :)eek:) degrees!

Am I missing something?
 
Are you useing a shroud, if so how much space do you have between fan and rad.
 
No shroud (either before or after), no space. They're right together, but there's about 1 cm of gap between the edge of the Rad and the start of its fins. Even then though, that big of a temp change in the wrong direction?
 
I agree that much of a temp diff. doesn't make a lot of since. I'd get a shroud to use for sure, it will only improve the fans. I think the bottom line is that it doesn't really matter which way and if you are seeing that much diff. then I'd go with whats working for you.

I have the fans on my rad pulling the cool air from the outside to the inside. Rad is on top of the case, and the fans are mounted inside pulling the air in. But, it all depends on your setup how you have your rad mounted.

Which radiator?

I've done MANY comparisons here... no difference at all in temps. A 1db reduction pulling over pushing.

Is the air moving the same way? Like, are you "pulling" warm air out and "pushing" cooler air in?
 
Alright, after re-running Orthos tests, those load temps were a fluke, I still don't understand them myself. The load temps are now at 70% the same as the load temps before the move, +/- 1-2 degrees randomly. However, the idle temps ARE still up. I have to keep the fan at 70% instead of 50% to keep the same temps I had before. The only difference is I took the fan from where the silver screws are in the pic below and put it where it is now. (It's over the computer back 120mm fan hole, so there was no gap before.)

Here's a pic of my setup right here. Rad is a BIP. Note that the phone is not in the way, it just appears so!

 
Yeah, that makes more sense...

Drawing warm air through the radiator before would hurt your load temperatures.

I don't understand why your idles have increased though...

That's a Black ice Xtreme radiator right? Not a BIP.

I tried both. No difference whatsoever, unless it has something to do with the rest of your gear. Didn't notice the noise volume - I'll have to check that out.
