Radiation difference between 19" and 17" CRT..?

My dad keeps saying he wont let me get a 19" CRT because of the radiation, but he thinks a nice 17" inch would be better. Can a 19" really have taht much more radiation? A link would be great to prove him wrong to :p
 
There was an article in one of the mags this past month, something like myth busters,
They claim that monitors today aren't the same as they used to be. I'd say no real differance, but I wouldn't get closer than 3 feet!
For the record this is just my opinion, I make no warranty, or claim to no anything about anything.
And as everyone one knows, FATHER KNOWS BEST :D
 
Manufacturers wouldn't have sold tens or hundreds of millions of CRT's if they were harmful; no matter what size.

Well he is an old school tech and he knows the ins and outs of TVs,radios, and anything that has to do with electronics, so it would be pretty hard convincing him. Anymore info?
 
in all likely hood, the electron guns in the back of the crt would be very similar in output... now that I think about it, a 19 inch might have LESS radiation than a 17 because of the larger output area, thereby having less concentration (ie diffusion). I know for cell phones, the FCC gets a SAR rating (not a virus...) which is a measurement of how many watts of radiation is absorbed per kilogram (I think I said that right, don't quite quote me). But might look around and see if there are any radiation labs that look at monitors. But I agree, just tell your dad to get you a 19" LCD. There's radiation, but it happens to just be light, not those evil gamma or x-rays... Or heaven forbid microwaves. Can't be having any of those screwing our brains up... So no WIFI for you!

(2.4 GHz is about the same frequency that Microwave ovens use. In theory, if you get a WIFI antenna with too much power, you can make yourself go blind. Good thing the FCC watches our back there... yeah... go FCC...)
