So I was just using my computer when all of the sudden my monitor turned off. The computer was still running and it didn't hang, the monitor just went off. So I shut it down and started trying to figure out the problem. It came on fine and went through the WinXP blue bar loading screen, but when it tried to load the login screen it shut off again. I thought it might be the monitor, but I messed with it some more. Eventually I took out my DVI to analog convertor that came with the card and tried through that. Lo and behold, I'm now typing from Windows on the same computer. So my question is...what the fuck? Anyone know what the problem might be? Could it have something to do with the bios flash from NP to Pro? It's not overclocked and it's been running fine for a good 4 or 5 months now. I can't think of what would cause it to half die. Any ideas?

Flashing your 9800 NP to Pro can toast the memory really good depending on what type you have.

And yes -- your card has been overclocked; flashing from NP to Pro gives it a very decent automatic OC.

It says on his SIG that he has an integrated graphics....you might want to put it on safe mode and troubleshoot from there.....disable vga on through the bios and reinstall the cat drivers from there.........might just be driver conflicts.....i used to have that type of things happening on my old computer with integrated graphics on it........

yea it was waht ever thing you took out to change the converter... or what ever you did to fix it. the problem is that toehr port/converter is dead

No, it's not due to that...I can tell you what it is. It's the refresh rate...the card doesn't want to display it through the VGA out anymore. Try setting XP to a lower setting, something really low, like 800x600@60hz or something.

Could be driver conflicts, BIOS flash, refresh rate, or perhaps the cable was just loose...

There's one of a million things that it could be, but it's working right NOW, and that's all that matters.
