eh this is pretty freaking weird
i have a radeon x700 pro and as usal im a fan of halflife and the series
well the problem is i can barely pull 50 fps on my machine with everything on the worst settings at 800x600 heres my specs

WinXp service pack1
Radeon x700 pro with omega drivers
pentium 4 2.8ghz
728 megs of ram
and soundblaster audigy soundcard

now i bet i could pull more frames on my radeon 9200 what the hell is wrong
btw i usally get straight 72 fps on hl1 based games with everything on

Well you have to remmember that a X700 is a 9800 with a PCI-E configuration. You might have a bad PSU or a crappy motherboard.

Any of the above can affect performance. Slow CPU, RAM defficiency, RAM latency, not enough power.

My guess would be maybe bottlenecks...but your CPU is not slow enough. On the other hand it might be power defficiency, as this is show by the external power connectors on the 6800's to OC better, or even those same ATI cards with external power connectors to OC better..

Hmm... That's odd. My 9700Pro OCed to 350/340 gets like 70-100fps on med settings at 1024x768... Your ram should be enough, and your CPU is decent enough... Try stock drivers instead of the Omega ones. See if that helps.

hmm youd think my psu would be good its a 500 wats volts whatever cant remeber the correct name

generally though im guessing its the drivers ill post back once i update them

Sorry to bump this but for any other person it seems when i defragged the problems magically disapperaed. Weird yes
