radeon x1900xtx overclocking disabled?

[boscogne]

Hi all

I just got a new Radeon x1900xtx, the plain ATI version. I tried overclocking with Overdrive in the CCC but it would not let me change any of the speeds for core or memory. I tried ATI Tray Tools but it reported that overclocking was disabled..anyone know how to get around this?

Yep the card switches from 2D clocks to 3D clocks when you open a game or graphically intensive program. If nothing heavy is going on it goes back to 2D clocks. This makes it hard to Overclock as the card stays in 2D clocks and voltages when trying to OC. You have to turn off some ATI serives. Use this link it should help.
