i couldn't sleep so i figured i would crack open a cd of anime music videos and see what my bud sent to me. i recently installed a radeon 9700 pro. to my dismay all the colors on the videos are messed up, like instead of normal video it looks almost like its being shown in heat source vision of blues, yellows and reds. the cd works fine on my other computer, i'm guessing i screwed up a codec or something when i switched to ati, so what could it be and has anyone else had this problem. ati's site was useless. any help would be great, am i just missing something to install or reinstall?

EDIT: i think its only with wmv files, anyone else have this problem or know where i can get a codec to correct it?

no good, put both packs in and it does that same thing, what could the changing from geforce to radeon have changed? i haven't used ati since the old ati rage or whatever. so i'm not used to them. is it a setting i could be missing or what. i'll see if i can get a screen capture to highlight my problem if this persists, still i could use some ideas or things to check

Thats odd, my old 9600XT, 9800 pro, x800pro, and now x800XL did the funky colors only when WMV acceleration was turned on, they'd go away when I turned them off... I'm outta ideas man, sorry. :(

now to be sure the acceleration is the check in my ati control, i don't have to do it anywhere else do i?

Download both K-Lite Codec Pack Full and XP Codec Pack
Stupid advice, those codec packs contain more harm then good.

After removing all that Klite crap (and other junk codecs) I would see what codec the file is suppose to be using (this is also good for removing junk codecs):
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=GSpot
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=RadLight_Filter_Manager
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DirectShow_Filter_Manager

Anyone of those is fine. The codec you want to use is FFDShow.

Is it possible for you to get a screen shot of the problem?

ok i got it, an IT degree, A+ certified and i forgot to restart after shutting off acceleration :(. this is what i get for enjoying a few beers with dinner then doing hardware work at 5am
