Finding drivers for my dv7 has always been a huge pain. It uses a switchable system that can toggle between 4200 and 5650 graphics based on what your are doing or if you are running off battery or not. It's been great and performs really well at 1600x900 but finding drivers has been a huge issue because for some reason AMD stopped supporting them in their drivers since like 10.11.
Anyways, I install windows 8 on my laptop and I'm going through the usual headache of trying to remember what drivers version to use and skimming through driver notes on amd's site from like 2010. I did a quick google search to help me along and I noticed a post on one of those ask me sites that said that the new drivers support switchable graphics again. I download the latest ones off of AMD.com and they work like a charm. Great news if you are like me and have a laptop with a hybrid setup. Good for AMD because before this afternoon, I completely wrote them off for my video card upgrades. Looks like I will be getting a 7870 instead of that gtx 660 after all.
