So, I have a 4850. Or atleast I think I do.

Cpu-z has been detecting it as a 4830. I've had this card over a year and this is the first time I've noticed this. I assume If I had seen this before I would have remembered.

Regardless, amds Vision control center program detects clocks at 500 core and 775 for the memory, now for whatever reason the 'over drive' default settings are set to the stock 4830 settings(575 core clock and 900 memory).

so, whats up with this junk? Is my motherboard just on the way out? I CPU-Z is also reporting that my ram is running in single channel even though I know It's in DC slots.

I have a m4a77td if it matters.

Also, fucking vision control center is the worst program I've ever dealt with. Why the hell is it constantly blinking, and all the 'overdrive' settings are greyed out and theres no option to enable them.

Any help would be absolutely awesome, thanks.

thanks, It's still IDing as a 4830 but I've been overclocking it to compensate.

Any ideas on the ram showing SC? there are no options in the bios to set it to dc.

You could run a few games where 4850 and 4830 performance has been benchmarked and compare your scores :p

Is there any labels on the card that shows its a 4850?

That is weird, But it could be worse a 4830 is still a good performer, A Friend has one and never has any problems with it, Lol he games at 1280 x 1024 but still...

The 4830 only has 640 stream processors compared to 800 in the 4850. You can't "fix" that by overclocking it to 4850 speeds.

But on that note, using a program that tells you how many stream processors it has will give you your answer for sure. If it only has 640sp it's not a 4850.

It has 640.

So I went back and found my original invoice, amazon says I ordered a 4830. I can't believe I've been thinking/saying I had a 4850 for the last 3 years or so. Or more that I never noticed It given how many times I've ran CPU-Z and such.

Wow.

Anyway, Anyone have any ideas for the SC ram? I'm running 2x2gb in the correct DC slots, still showing as SC though.

Well don't feel bad about the Vid card thing, There have been far worse mistakes made. Try moving a stick of the ram to a different slot.

so I went in there and installed my new NIC and took a look at the ram. I've had this computer here for roughly a year now. I haven't cleaned it since moving, however I have gone over two years with other machines without the need to really clean it.

so I get in there, and It's like the fucking dirty 30s in my computer. Seriously, I've never seen that much dust in a machine before.

I always heard the Antec 300 was a dust magnet, but I didn't really believe it would be this bad.

I'm pretty sure It would require 3-4 cans of air to get that shit out, I'm going to have to take it to work vacuum/blow it with our air compressor. It's kinda nuts. wtb new case.

Are you using the included dust filters?

Hmm odd. i have the 300 illusion and i only clean out the front filters every 6 to 8 months. always been a negligient amount of dust in the case

My 300 is relatively dust free too. I put a side fan on but I bought a separate filter for that one too. Compared to my 900, its very dust free. You have to keep in mind that for any case, some general upkeep is always needed to keep your stuff clean. You said you moved, did you move to a dryer climate where there is more dust? I have lived in Florida and Utah. In Florida, I never had to clean my case. There was almost no dust in the air at all. Utah is a dust pot where my filters are plugged completely after 2 weeks if I don't clean them.

Went from florida to Washington actually, WA isn't exactly dusty. Infact It's almost as humid as florida sometimes, just not hot.

East or west washington. If you are on the west, it shouldn't be a huge deal. If you are in the east (Tri Cities, Spokane etc) then its a HUGE difference compared to Florida.
