Whats the word on these things? I know it has 256mb of Ram on it, not sure if DDR or what. I have a friend who has one in his Server and says he'll sell it to me for $200.00 plus my Ti4200...Good Deal? Thanks!

yes they have DDR (DDR2?) and the deal is ...ok....your definitly getting a better card in terms of your Ti4200 but pluss 200...thats ok...you can pick up these cards on ebay for about 200... i would say its a deal..

$200 + your current card for used 9800XT?

Sounds a bit steep when you consider that $200 will get you a new 6600GT which is going to be a generally faster card.

9800XTs were the best of the last generation. They were expensive then and continue to hold their value beyond what their performance deserves against the newer stuff. People paid a lot for them when they were the best (often quite recently) and are usually unwilling to price them realistically now that they are mid-range speed. If it was me, I'd buy a 6800nu and sell the old card to cut the cost down closer to $200.

not worth it by any means...if you want a faster video card, take the 200 your willing to spend on his 9800xt, sell your ti4200 for 50-60$ add it to your 200 and get yourself a 6800nu or at the very least a 6600gt.

For a little more(the amount you could sell that good old Ti4200 for) +$200 you could get a 6800nu which trounces the 6600GT, which in turn beats the now very outdated for that price 9800XT.
