So I'm putting together a computer for my brother and I'm putting in a used radeon I got, but when I started up windows it auto installed it and there are two drivers, one is Radeon 9800 PRO (microsoft corportation) and the other is Radeon 9800 PRO SEC (microsoft corporation). Everytime i uninstall it it comes back and never gives me the chance to choose the driver to install. Is this right? What will happen happen if I just install the 4.12 cats I got?

Another thing that you should do is when you restart your computer after uninstalling the drivers, disconnect from the internet so Windows doesn't automatically download drivers for you. When you boot up, install, restart, and connect to the internet again.

1. Windows doesn't update drivers automatically, just critical updates.
2. Those are just MS basic drivers. Ignore them and go ahead and install the CATS over them. Thats normal.

well, I did, we'll see how the system runs, I did have a few strange things happen to the pc since the format/install of xp sp2. Everything is new except the video card. The screen just went all crazy, everything was distorted and the system kinda froze, can't really describe it, something that would make you think the vid card is bad though, but I think that was before the driver update. Also, I never had windows install any drivers except for the vga compatible one when I would format/install my xp with my 6800GT.
