Radeon 9800 Video Problems Mucho

I recieved my 9800 Pro in the mail last night, and to my dismay when I plugged it in, my video would post but would be scrambeled to hell. From bios to Windows it's just a jarble of colors and patterns. The old card I replaced was a GeForce 2 GTS, which worked just fine, and works just fine whenever I put it back in, so the AGP slot seems ok. So I decided it had to be the Radeon 9800 card, so I tested it in a friends setup (Althon 3000+, KV8PRO, 400W Enermax) and it posted just fine, everything worked flawlessy. Which led me to beleive that my PSU (300W Uneec) was the cause. So we put his PSU in my computer along with the 9800, and still had the same scramble of video. So it's not my PSU, and if my mobo works with my GeForce 2 GTS, my AGP appears to be fine, so what gives?
Specs on my comp:
1.4 Athlon Thunderbird.
Abit KR7A - Raid.
768 MB DDR 266 (Generic)
PSU 300W Uneec.

Old Card Geforce 2 GTS 32MB
New Card ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB
 
Well I would think maybe just maybe the nvidia drivers that are on may be causing the issue?
I mean whenever you do a new install of a vidcard you always make sure the drivers for the old are out...

I'm not sure but did you plug in the power for the card when you installed it in your system? Another thing that could be wrong is a screwed up AGP slot, probably not but its a possibility.
 
My bios is having the same video problems and throughout the whole Windows XP loading process before the drivers are even loaded.
 
Yep, the card firmly has power. And I would suspect the AGP slot, but the GeForce 2 GTS works just fine in it.

well this could be a factor but he said from post that the screen looked like hell so I don't think drivers would have anything to do with his problem.

I mean I never came across this kind of problem when I upgraded from my gf2 to ati 9800pro
but yeah I was told always to remove the old stuff especially going from nvidia to ati and vice versa...neway damn hope u get that prob fix man =D
 
My first 9800 from saphire did that. It was a bad card. RMA'd it. The replacement worked fine.
 
Do you have the latest BIOS for the board?

CX version is latest and BIOS fixes this problem

1. Fixes the compatibility issue where the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro fails to boot up with a certain power supply unit - TC-350P. With this power supply, the 9700 Pro will fail to boot up, requiring a reset button push to show the boot screen.
