RADEON 9800 PRO - LOW 3dMark2001 score :(

Ok, first of all here are my specs:

Athlon 2500+ (overclocked to 2ghz)
768MB DDR-SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128mb

I recently ran 3dMark2001 and got a score of 14,667 - is that bad?

I am kind of worried considering I have seen many other 9800 PRO users get 17k and even more!

What could be wrong here? Or is nothing wrong?

There is many, many tweaks these guys are doing that your not aware of thought. I think your fine.

tweak grasshopper i got 21151 outta my old 9800 and it was a so so card..

how in the hell, lol

i wanna get a score like that =/ i only got 13,199 in 3dMark2001se
 
the better your proc, the better your score with a 9800pro.
you should be getting at least 16+K with a 9800pro with a 2ghz barton.
 
I only get 17.5k in 3d mark 01 with my Barton 3200+ xp and 9800 pro.. but I get over 6k in 3d mark 03.. so im not worried in the slightest.
 
I wouldn't be too concerned with your 2k1 (dx8...who cares?) scores...I would worry more about your 2k3 (dx9) scores.
 
i switched to the omega 4.7's and it went up 140 points

p.s. i don't have a 2ghz barton, its a 1.73Ghz palamino (i think thats the core, not positive)

Make sure you don't have any extra overhead running on your machine. Shut down services you don't need, turn off AA/AF in the ati control panel, set texture and mipmap sliders to performance or high performance. You should be able to overclock that 9800Pro to somewhere around/over 415core|360memory. I've seen folks with better memory than my 9800Pro has, hitting 400 on the memory.

And since 3DMark2001 is more of an overall system bench now (unless you max the eye candy ;) ) any hardware upgrades you make will boost those minimum fps values. Hopefully getting you the frames you desire in games.

busted 6000 a minute ago on a old 1.6 northie at 2.2 with it...now the spare rig...

dual channel ram really helps out...(which it doesnt have LOL)
