Hi,
I just won this card off of eBay and (yeah, yeah, but it's all i can afford) and I think the guy sold me a mislabeled non-pro. First of all,

The pictures are here, please ignore the default ones from verizon. (sorry for the long load times) http://mysite.verizon.net/res7t1t5/id1.html

Those are the pictures, as you can see if you zoom up close enough, the RAM on the card is 3.3ns and AtiTool says that the defaults for the card are 277/270.  now if i'm not mistaken, don't the pros come with 2.86 ns memory and 325/310?

Also, the guy that I bought it from says the card is from a company called Microze or Microz Electronics or something like that. any light on this would be great! Thanks guys!

You are correct in your thinking. The 9700 Pro is clocked at 324 Core and either 310 or 315 memory. It will have hte Samsung 2.8 ram chips. You have been taken advantage of and I would recommend getting your money back or having them replace it with the real thing. The infinion ram chips overclock absolutly terribly but the samsung chips are great.

does anybody know how the hynix chips o/c? also, has anybody heard of microz electronics?

My "9700 Pro" listed below is actually a PowerColor 9700 non-pro with 3.6ns Hynix RAM. I've never really pushed it to see how far the RAM will overclock but I've never had any problems running at the Pro speed with the RAM at 310MHz. As long as you've got ATITool fired up, you might as well give the artifact test a try and find out.

UncleMacro, do you have ramsinks on ur ram? and also, does atitool artifact when you try it at 310 and which version are you using? thanks.

Nope, I don't have RAM sinks. I just have the standard BGA package RAM like yours except yours are 3.3ns and mine are 3.6ns. I run ATITool 0.0.23 and don't get any artifacts at 310MHz. But I've never tried the RAM faster than 310 MHz because I'm fairly careful when it comes to overclocking. I just liked the sound of 9700 Pro better than 9700 so I sped it up a bit.

Here is my experience of my 9700's. If you get the Infinion 3.6 chips on your 9700 your max mem overclock will be about 280 (the worst you can get), if you get the infinion 3.3 chips you can push it up around the 300 mark, if you get the Hynix 3.6 chips i have seen ppl get around 325 memory, and the samsung chips can go nice and high, i can run mine at 380.

Man, looks like you got scammed. How much did you pay for it though?

P.S.-- off-topic question, what's the name of that theme you have on windows? that's a nice skin. Just give me a name please.

i paid 102.50 for this card with shipping and i am currently in the process of filing a complaint with paypal, the guy has a bunch of others and paypal might grant me a refund or exchange. and stryker, the skin is avenger.

does anybody have any experience with hynix 3.3's? and did you add any voltage to the agp bus macro? thanks guys.

did you add any voltage to the agp bus macro?
The AGP voltage only affects the signalling voltage. Overvolting it can improve stability of flakey AGP ports. It has no affect on the video RAM voltage. My video RAM is just running at the default voltage (whatever that is). I just overclock with ATITool and don't change anything else. Going from 270 to 310 isn't that much of an overclock anyway for the Hynix RAM. If you're not getting any artifacts then just give it a pop.

aNoMaLy2k8, you're missing out with that card. I put my workstation card (BBA FireGL 9700, aka 9700pro) in my PC just for fun, and I sort of prefer it than my X800XL because of bad bottleneck. Been playing BF2 for 7 hours straight with 4xaa and 1024x768 at medium settings without problems.

I have ATI Silencer 1 on the card, but I didn't overclock the memory becase they're HOT as hell, I gotta get ramsinks.

Sucks if you can't flash it to 9700 pro.

My Sapphire 9700NP came with a 9700 Pro BIOS and 3.6ns Hynix chips. With my VGA Silencer Rev2, I successfully managed to get the core up to 380MHz (could probably go more too, but I didn't care much about that, a 110MHz overclock is outstanding), and the memory up to 310MHz.

Not to rain on your parade, but you can get a refurbished 9700 AIW for $100 shipped @ newegg, and you can often find used 9800 series cards for $100 or less. I would return it and look for something better ;)

And in line with the thread - all built by ATI or Sapphire 9700 Pro cards will have the samsung 2.86ns ram. Do you know the manufacturer?

It sounds like a flashed 9500 Pro. Thats exactly how my 9500 Pro was after flashing it. I bought a good Cooler for it and it's still running in my nephew's machine @ 325/300 with RivaTuner.

The card is manufactured by some company called microz electronics... never heard of them. Have any of you? and, do any of you know where i could find a 9700 pro bios for the 3.3ns hynix chips? thanks.

I'm currently in the process of getting a refund from paypal and I need a third-party document. Will any of you with experience with these cards help me out? I need to get a document or they won't let me continue. PLEASE PM for more info. Thanks!

Here's what paypal said:

In order to continue with the investigation of your claim, we must request
documentation to support your claim that the item is damaged or
significantly not as described. Please obtain a document (such as an
estimate or invoice) from an unbiased third-party, such as a dealer; repair
shop, appraiser, or another individual or organization that is qualified in
the area of the item in question (other than yourself), which details the
extent of the damage or clearly explains how the item received
significantly differs from the item advertised. Please do not proceed with
any repairs or alterations to the item, as doing so will limit PayPal’s
ability to successfully resolve your claim, and may result in the
cancellation of your dispute. If possible, the document should include a
serial number and description of the item, and the dollar amount required
to complete the repairs necessary to correct the damage. This document must
be on letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the
individual, business, or organization so that PayPal may contact them if
necessary.

:) quite long
The last couple sentences explain it quite well.

Basically, what you need to do, is tell them that this not a 9700 pro, that there is no fix, there should either be a refund or an exchange for another card and they need an adequate reason that the card is not what it should be (most likely the ram and GPU clock). I can send extra pics if anybody needs. Also, the document needs to be in letterhead form. Thanks.

If I remember correctly... the 3.6ns were actually better than the 3.3's. Weird I know... but I believe they are from different manufacturers. I got lucky and got the sammies on my non-pro. I don't know how you want us to help you, I don't know anyone through paypal. The 9700 pro's never had any of those slower ones on them. Only advice is not to get too technical with them if you don't have to. You got a 9700non-pro perhaps just called a reg 9700. Check Ati tool for a 256 bit interface in the ram... or like said you could even have a flashed 128-bit 9500Pro!

will somebody help me get this refund done please?

What you will need is someone with some form of computer business to do it for you. Some form of ID proving that they are legitimate computer hardware operators. Over here (Australia), I'd supply the letterhead, info, etc along with a copy of my contact detaisl and ABN. I don't know what you have over there in America, but I assume there is some form of business grouping for tax purposes? Maybe just waltzing into your local Fry's or something and getting them to do a print for you verifying this? It's all I can think of.

The Bar Code sticker on it say's it's a 9700 Pro 128 M Memory!
So unless he went to a ton of trouble to change that sticker or print up a new one, then I'd say it is in fact a 9700Pro 128Mb card
