i just tried to install the new drivers and it crashed and gave me this message

any thoughts?

setup was unable to complete the installation.
try to setup your display with a standard vga driver before running setup.

someone please help.

update...just updated from the last one to the new one

ive never had any problems before

I'd try maybe redownloading it ?
Other then that, if it doesn't want to install
I have no idea. Sorry.

You might try driver cleaner. But I don't think that would prevent an error like you're describing.

damn i guess no one has a clue. this is really disturbing.

12 hours and no replys.

is it possible that my graphics card just happened to bite the dust at the same time i was installing the new drivers.

it still works, but it says it has no 3d hardware support detected.

doesnt even recognize it as an ati card.

just a generic graphics card.

this is one of the wierdest things ive encountered so far.
guess ill have to format and re-install everything to see if its a hardware problem or a software problem. that really sucks too.

Uninstall your old drivers and then redownload the drivers from www.ati.com and if that doesn't work you probably need to download some driver updates for your chipset. If you have an nvidia nforce2 chipset then download it from your mobo manufacturer. :D
Hope this helps.

.
i suppose it possible but highly improbable
uninstall the drivers and/or the card itself (if it still shows in device manager), reboot then reinstall the OLD drivers and see if they still work.

Then start again. redownload the new drivers as you may have gotten a corrupted dl.
use driver cleaner to get rid of the old drivers completly...

well i didnt think this was the problem. but damn if it wasnt .

I looked at my device manager, and all my nforce2 devices were messed up.

so i ran driver cleaner, and re installed the latest nf2 drivers, then the latest cat's
and everything is back to normal.

I have no idea how my chipset drivers got screwed, but its fixed now.

Maybe nvidia slipped some mallicious code in to mess it up if you have an ATI graphics card. lol i doubt it, but it would be funny.

well all back to normal now.

just glad i didnt have to format and reinstall everything.

thanks for the help.
