I've got a spare, reasonably powerful system sitting around. I also have a desire to get cozy with Linux. It shouldn't take much to figure out where I'm going, but I want to know how much hair-pulling frustration I can expect. The system specifications are as follows:

Soyo KT333 Dragon Lite
Athlon XP 2100+
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
128 MB Gigabyte Radeon 9550 (not SE, thank God)
Intel 10/100+ Pro Management Adapter
2 40 Gig UDMA/100 hard drives

That seems to be the most pertinent information. Slackware or Gentoo would be my first distribution choices, but I'm open to suggestion. The new release of X.org also looks good. Any thoughts or advice would be deeply appreciated.

Ati has horrible linux support unfortunatly, so dont expect good 3d preformance, otherwise it should run fine.
