I have a Radeon 9500 pro with the straight configuration of memory. Is there anything I can for it to make it run like a 9700 Pro?

o/c the piss out of it. Then when it dies buy a nv40 or r420 (whichever kicks the other's ass).

If only I had the money.. but OC'ing sounds like a plan, any recommendations?

if you have a 9500 pro with the "L" memory configuration then you can flash it to a 9800 pro.

use something like Radlinker or Rage3D or AtiTool and see how high it'll go.

AtiTool usually does a decent job, and has a feature to find max mem and find max core speeds. Don't click and walk away for a while though. stay close by just in case something goes squirly and it doesn't back the clock down when it detects artifacts.
