which 1 is better for a budget system, if any games are played it'll probably be cs/ut/vc.

where are you buying it from? i was looking into cards in that range... and i am probably going to get a 9000 pro.. and 9200 is more on par with a mx440 than a 7000.

anyways.. what do you want to spend?

you can get a 128bit 9200 or 9000pro for under $50
 
Id get a Radeon 8500 or 9100 (they are the same chip) and both are (in some cases) twice as fast as a Radeon 9000/9200.

And the Radeon 9200 (in some cases) is twice as fast as the radeon 7000 (the 7000 doesnt even have TNL (ie the thing that made Geforce1 a big deal over the TNT2).

It basicly comes down to, unless ur playing Games from 1999 or before, a Radeon 7000 or MX440 is useless.

Get the Radeon 8500 as its a 4 pipeline card that could run doom3 with low/miniimal settings at a decent frame rate. It will also look good (has vertex shaders) the MX400/R7000 dont have any shaders at all so it wont even look the same on those cards (besides being unplayably slow)

i think u missed my post....

in some situations the 8500/9100 can be almost twice as fast as a 9200/GeforceMX
 
i know. but them cards can only be purchased second hand. this is a pc im buildin for some1 else

atm its either 9200 se or mx440. im still lookin for the cards u suggested but so far cannot find them.
 
na itd eatup the system ram, £30-£35 for a agp card is just within the limit.

you cant buy cards from say newegg in england ?

have u pricewatch and pricegrabber checked it ?
 
so far the retailers in england ive checked havent got it. im still lookin through the kelkoo searches
 
the cheapest so far is a 9000 but its £10 above limit.

looks like its gonna be the 9200 se. thx for the help

Why? The 9200se only has a 64-bit memory bus and is much slower than the regular GF4 MX440 with a 128-bit memory bus.
 
my radeon 7000 manages to play ut 2k4 decently at 800x600 with settings on high, i dont knwo about other games tho
 
i used to run a radeon 7000. The geforce 4 mx (albeit a crappy card) hands it it's ass on a silver platter. I hear only bad things about the 9200 se. Get the gf4mx.
 
listen to the pros man, if you want a good card for cheap...get the Radeon 8500 LE 128MB AGP on ebay for 30 bux...it's the best card for your money
