Radeon 6850 vs. GTX 460 1GB

Ok both of these are in my budget. I'm considering the 460 1GB because I hear nVidia drivers are better. But I may prefer to stick with ATI since I already have the catalyst software installed. The old 5770 got a bit buggy after an unsuccessful overclock so I sold it cheap, and I'm wondering which of these two you guys would prefer. I'd like to get it through amazon since I have prime membership and it's cheaper than Microcenter. System specs are in my sig.
TIA!

Trying to keep it at $150 or lower, but thanks. And yeah I agree it's a great card, but I'm gaming at 1920x1080 on a Phenom II 720 BE so that may be slight overkill.

If you go the 6850 route, wouldn't that leave you with the opportunity of adding another one for crossfire in the future? A GTX 460 will use both your PCI-E connectors. Not sure if that's something you considered but might be worth a thought.

With his psu he should be fine using the molex to pci-e cables included with msot current gpu's

HD6850 all the way, slightly faster than GTX4601GB and uses less power.

Here's a deal for that same HD6850 you linked. This deal won't last long:
XFX Radeon HD 6850 + Shogun 2 game combo $164.99 - $10 (use code: XFX719) - $30 rebate + Free Dirt3 game = $124.99

You can resell the games if you already have them making the deal even sweeter.

Even better than that crazy deal above....................

Buy a Evga gtx460 with life time warranty for 139$ AR and get free copy photoshop elements 9 sent to your home (no download) from Evga and sell it on ebay for 50 to 60$ ( http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=ph...un+2+pc&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313) and have a brand spankin new gtx460 for about 85$!!!!!!

That card will never keep up with your Hawk. ;)

eh, i think it's pretty common to have to lower your clocks anyway when you go SLI. i have two Hawks, and in single-card configuration i was able to get 900 mhz on the core, but in SLI it seems 850 is about the limit (for my particular cards).

Could very well be true. Still, the EVGA won't likely be able to clock as high as his Hawk.

Both of them are good. You won't regret if you pick the AMD or the Nvidia one. My AMD has been great! I never really had a bad driver issue other than the Witcher 2 running like crap.
