I have a Radeon 5770 and am very happy with it. I only game at 1680x1050. What's the highest resolution anyone games at with this card? People keep telling me to drop this card but I don't get it. I plan on going eyefinity soon but I'll upgrade to the 5870 at that point but on a single monitor my 5770 does the job nice.
 
I owned this card for several months, playing at 1680x1050, and never had any problems. My E5300 was more of a bottleneck than the card was.
 
5770's almost perfect for the resolution, can crank most settings to max with a lil' overclocking, I'm guessing your friends are the type of guys to stuff a GMC 540 into a '70 gremlin for cruising 4th (my uncle does this for drag racing, you really gotta see the faces on the guys he's up against when they get smoked in their new mustang), lol. running at a higher resolution you might be better off with a stronger card if you want the eye-candy, but you should be fine as-is.

Buddy of mine plays Starcraft 2 pretty much maxed out @ 1080p with it. He can max it but it gets sluggish for a second or two if theres tons going on. This is paired with a stock X4 955.
 
+1 to this. I play at 1440x900 and, while I'd love a 5870, my $140 card does everything I need. Once the next gen Radeons come out I'm hoping that 5770 prices plummet so that I can snag a second one on the cheap for Crossfire.
 
1900x1200 for me. i can max most the games i play with out an issue. only one thats really a problem is bc2, but with hbao off and 0xaa, i run at pretty constant 50-60.
