Rackmount heatsinks and Tower Ones

I have a heatsink that is designed for a 2U chassis. Would it be ok for me to use it in a tower case as well? Or would it not disperse heat as well?
 
most of those heatsinks are super-low profile for the amount of space avalible, and can only dissapate a certain amount of heat... i just wouldnt worry about it unless you plan to put a demanding cpu under it.
 
well it is gonna put an opteron 2.2 Ghz on it? Would that be demanding based on the criteria?
