Clutch + H-Pattern + Leather wheel > On the fly TCS controlling.
Yeah an actual gated shifter sounds good. I probably won't buy a wheel until the full game of GT5 arrives. I'm almost done with S-class on Prologue. I only wished there were more tracks to master. I wonder how many will be in GT5 ? How many were in GT4 ?

I wouldn't want a gated shifter. F1 don't use them and nor do I. Both hands should be on the wheel all the time and that is why paddle shifters are superior. Does that G25 have paddle shifters too or are you forced to use the gated H shifter?

Not all cars are like F1, and no paddle shifters are not superior in regular racing IMO. I need the feel of the clutch (kind of wrong since there really is no feel in the pedals, but you know what i mean) and i want to be able to rev match while i downshift. And no, you arent forced to use the gated shifter. You can also switch the gated to sequential with the knob on there. The G25 is highly customizable on GT5P and im sure its going to be the same on GT5. Only gripe about the g25 is the bottom hinged pedal.. but i cant do anything about that unless i mod it haha

I don't doubt its more fun and real to have the feel of the pedals and a gated shifter. But a properly made sequintial transmission IS superior to a regular shifter in any type of racing if allowed. The only problem is that common road cars don't come with that good of a transmission. With that said, people online with their paddle shifters are gonna beat you online and your gated shifter (most of the time), simply because they are gonna shift faster. I think games purposely simulate the lag in shifts (so cars don't shift fast like they are F1 cars), how does that translate to a gated shifter?

g25 has paddle shifters, H gate setup, and a way to turn the H into sequential shifting as well. Its a perfect wheel.

I have to disagree. They are superior simply for the reason they are safer to use and much faster to change gears with. That would apply to all cars if they used them. Some are even starting to use computer controlled shifting in F1. Maybe next they will have auto-pilot for F1. ;)

I've been using the G25 and playing prologue since x-mas. It's been great. You can customize it to your tastes, one day you may miss shifting a 6 spaeed, other days you feel like using the paddles and other days the push shift. Depends on your mood and the car you drive. I personally drive a 6 speed and honestly it doesn't compare to the real thing, but for a video game, it's more than adequate for home situations. Now if I can only get around to building a race seat.

I still think it's hella lame that no racing game has incorporated the mandatory use of a clutch pedal for racing with manual.
Seriously, I'd be all over a racing wheel that had a clutch pedal and a game that supported it.

prologue works with the clutch, you have to activate it each race though and unlike reality if you miss shifting with the clutch, there's no grind of the gear, just that you have to "re-shift" into that gear again with the clutch depressed.

Though if you are going to use the clutch, it requires a racing seat with the G25 bolted in, the carpet grip isn't strong enough to deal with constant clutching and gas/braking.

Maybe i just miss the days of the old pedal dance rally stars used to always have to do. Racing used to require a lot more skill than it does now.

Id like to see any of the old racers hang with current F1 drivers. More skill...bah.
You are sadly mistaken if you think pedal/shifting = more skilled driver. All it really means is slower times.
