Has anyone scored a waterblock already? and if so where? I'm very interested in seeing this puppy under water.

It seems that only EK has them out in the channel for now, at least here in the US..They are sold out @ a lot of the WC'ing E-tailers, but the EK webshop still had them instock..But 290X's FLY under water..I've seen people hitting 1175~1275 and 7Ghz on memory at stock +/- .05% Voltage increase with temps in the '80s which should make even the greenest Nvidiot cry lemon lime coolaid tears :D..

I ordered a EK accrylic/copper from Frozen.CPU. Shipped last Friday. I should get it by the end of this week.

where u seeing these clock speeds / people with waterblocks?

u got a thread u can link?

80'C on water is fucking awful...

results i'm seeing with a GPU-only block is 50'C under load at stock, 80'C isn't exactly impossible if the card is heavily clocked but man, that's nuts.

my 7970's at 1250 hit 50 under full LOAD lol
at 1225 they hit about 43 under load

Lot of more small nano transistors;)

yea seems watercooling is popular though.

The cards are designed to run at 95c before throttling so theoretically you could OC them until they hit that point, even under water. I wonder how much power the cards demand at a high overclock though.

Tl;DR

290x on water, full cover block

core @ 1270, doesn't go above 50'C

18k graphics score in 3dm11

impressive as fuck.. my overclocked 7970's in CFX hit a graphics score of 22k. 290x is a beast

I was on the fence cuz the 780ti news stopped me short now... shit not anymore! I can't stress enough what an awesome card this is for people that watercool. Would do separate loops however.

that block is gorgeous, love the palm trees and the state of hawaii engraved into the block.. that would definitely be the block I would get, assuming they make a nickel plated version

i guarantee it will cost at least $160 when it hits the US shops..

Why does Europe get all the good releases for WB's? Is that where those companies are based?

I have an "order" in for an EK from frozencpu but still have not seen a shipping order. I'm likely to actually put my 7970 back in until the waterblock comes in. This card is a beast, but jesus is it loud. I turned fan to manual and let it spool up to 80% and I couldn't deal with it. My last 2 sets of AMD cards have also been blowers but I don't remember them being that loud. That or I never actually installed them without the waterblock.

No doubt this card is a beast though. I went from mid 30s in MWO at lowest settings to mid 40s at high settings playing at 7880x1440.

Just ordered one of my 290X's for my build.

I'm patiently awaiting availability of either the Kryographics or Watercool's GPU-X cards. I don't want an EK or Koolance product and I'm not really into the aesthetics of the XSPC block.

I have the new Aquacomputer Kryographics Hawaii on the way for my Asus 290, along with a couple compression fittings. My first "real" gpu block should be delivered tomorrow!

:D

I picked up 2x ASUS 290xs and 2 nickel plated kryographics blocks.

Only thing is my 290xs can still reach around 85c under 100% load. Are these normal temps for 290xs under water with the below setup? I would imagine 2 of them put out some serious heat, but it still looks really high to me. They idle around 35-37c, CPU idles around 30c

System:
Intel i7 3770k w/ HeatKiller 3.0 block
2x Asus 290x w/ 2x Aquacomputer Kryographics Nickel-Plated

Corsair 800D
360 + 120 Radiator (Gentle Typhoon AP-15 Fans)
MCP 655 w/ EK-D5 X-TOP v2

Nothing is overclocked at the moment.

I would think even with two 290's in the loop you should definitely be staying under 70c. Most single 290 loops stay below 50. You didn't put thermal pads on memory did you with those aquacomputer blocks? I saw where you just put a little compound on the memory, if you put pads then you'd probably have a gap between the gpu and block surface, my only thought off the top of my head.

Something is wrong. Either the blocks aren't mounted correctly and making good contact with the core(maybe poor TIM application) or there is some sort of other issue with your loop, maybe a flow issue.

Stress your CPU and report the temps.
Blow the dust out of the fans/radiators. Check fans for good airflow on radiator.
Check for kinks.

How is the temp looking for the GPUs. Does it immediately ramp up to 85C under load? Is it a slow increase?

Not supposed to happen. My 290's never go above 45, 50 at most while doing some serious benching. You either put too much TIM or didnt seat the blocks properly.

I've got two 290s XSPC blocks overclocked to 1075 at the moment. They never go above 50 under full load. I also have a 3570K at 4.6G in the loop. I have a lot more rad surface than you though, using a Phobya 1080.

I know it's not a real comparison, but 85 seems very high under water.

The aquacomputer blocks instruct you to use TIM for the memory modules, and include pads for the VRMs. That's what I used.

I'll look at the temps when I get home. Looking at the graphs in MSI afterburner, there was a nice curve as the 290x went under load, it was definitely not an immediate jump to 85c.

The fans/radiators were clean, I completely tore apart and cleaned every piece when i got these 290x's.
There are no kinks, I have 3 60degree rotary fittings in various areas that were giving me kinking trouble before.
My pump is a few years old at this point, but it still looks/sounds like it is functioning normally, could this be an issue? How many hours are these pumps even rated for?

I was going to mention your pump, that could be a problem as its not pushing enough water through the blocks.

D5 has a 50,000 hour MTBF. Is that one of the vario models? If so, what speed are you running it?

Could be your pump, though I'm guessing your blocks need to be remounted. My r9 290 or r9 290x don't crack 50c, using a pair of alphacool ut60 rads in separate pc's (240+120 and 360+360).

XSPC Raystorm | 2x XSPC 290 Full Waterblock
Black Ice Stealth 360/240mm Rads | 5x GT AP-15 1850RPM Fans
Swiftech Dual Bay Res w/MCP35X single pump

My cards even mining dont hit above 57C. Under gaming load hit 47C

You have a problem with water circulation or the GPU > Block mount.
I have two 290X in CF and both at 1150/1350 and a Haswell 4770 at 4.3 using all Heatkiller blocks, an MCP655 with XSPC pumptop Res, running through three XSPC 120 x 2 radiators.

My GPU temps at 100% load are a consistant 48C.
