"We got some new information about the soon to launch Radeon R9 290X. The card that is supposed to launch tomorrow, October 24th in the US and on the 25th in most parts of Europe. There is a time difference of 9 hours between Pacific Time and Central European time.
The Radeon R290X based on AMD’s new Hawaii chip and it should be selling later on the 24th in the US in etail and select retailers for $549 + tax, which sounds quite amazing for a card that can run faster than the Geforce GTX 780 and in Uber mode can even outrun the Titan selected games. EU listings point to €649 including VAT, which sounds about right. Its main competitor, the GTX 780, has an MSRP of $649, but Asus has cards listed for as little as $535.

Of course there is a catch. In quiet mode the card beats Geforce 780 in some games and benchmarks, not all of them. In Uber mode it needs a lot more power and ends up louder than the Radeon HD 7970 Gigahertz edition. People described the cooler noise in Uber noise as quite loud to us, but we must add that we still haven’t heard it firsthand. In Uber mode the R290X is fast enough to win against Titan in a few benchmarks, but not all.

However, there’s a caveat – our sources claim that AMD has not sent out the official price just yet, so even a day before launch it could still change."

for as little as $535. ??????

this is crazy these cards N or A are way overpriced.
And what do we do, say think you ????

That card worth every buck... And even i know that will not be the release price... That prices will be a big slap in the face of Nvidia and will keep better market competition.. It could force Nvidia to drop prices badly if are just as powerfull as leaked benchmark..

You could, I don't know, not buy them? As long as people keep purchasing $500+ video cards, there will always be $500+ video cards.

Also why would we say "Think you"? I don't ever say anything like that, as far as I can remember.

and people will keep doing that.. generally those high priced 500+ cards are meant for more than the average consumer, those who want to play at more than 2560x1440Resolutions, and/or multimonitor resolutions.. the massive average are still into the 1920x1080.. and i know i no need a 290X or GTX780/TITAN to gaming at 1080P  .

i still game at 1080/1200.

My OCed 7970 still cant max game settings at 60fps and 4x/8xAA, so there is still a market for 1080p with these

same here, can't max all games fluidly with my OCed 7970 and 1080 monitor. so i need to upgrade to a 780 or 290X. plus i have a 2560x1440 monitor being delivered today so i'm in definite need of upgrading.

No shit eh? Was going to ask, but then I saw in your sig that it's coming. Any rationale for going with the one in your sig? I'm in the market.

$555 shipped amazon prime so about $200 more than a single input QNIX. the $200 difference is worth it to me for multiple inputs (still need to play Last of Us on PS3), OSD with image setting adjustment, RTC adjustment, and ASUS' time-tested crappy warranty service.

Dell seems to be running 30% off sales on their refurb monitors almost monthly now. I just went from 3 mismatched 30s down to 3 u2713hm monitors so that I no longer have to deal with bullshit nvidia drivers -should- I switch cards.

The 27" dells come in at around 418 with the coupon.

What the hell, there's a coupon? I'm grabbing one right now if this is true. I really wanted one of the Ultrasharps but I didn't want to plop down close to a grand for a monitor, just doesn't really make sense to me (thought it should, with how much I spend on GPU's), but this seems nice.

Thanks for that, appreciate it. Looks like there are no 27's on the outlet store site anymore.

you might already know this BiH115 but veedub's u2713hm is the one to get of the dell 27" 1440 monitors. at least for gaming.

Games for example?.. let me guess crysis 3? metro 2033 and LL?. there are games that of course need an incredible GPU power to be at stable 60FPS. and others that are just poor coded and not matter how powerfull its the GPU or CPU, it will be always with heavy drops and stutter (Diablo 3? Darksiders 2?). but yes I understand your feeling as when i was on SLI still struggle with some games..

metro, DA2, DA:O, Anno2070, Skyrim, DMC, ME3. Darksiders, Deadspace, etc.

basically any FPS, or RPS. RTSs for the most part are ok.

I also use RadeonPro and crank up all the visuals (what used to be called AI)
