r9 290 trifire issues

So I got an r9 290x for cheap and before adding it to my gf's computer I wanted to try some trifire benchmarks

But it seems to stay at 0% load all the time, fans running and temps are showing though.

What could be the cause of this? My other cards are different brand and they are r9 290 not 290x, they both are working fine.

The motherboard is Crosshair IV formula, it has 3 pcie lanes so I assumed it supports this but I can't find specific info about trifire or quadfire.
