R870 die shot

*starts counting the SPs* :D

Too bad it isn't a larger resolution shot :)

Clean power circuitry. I also notice that while the PCB is laid out for 8+6 PCIe power connectors, the actual sockets are 6+6.

I bet it ends up using less power than 4890, maybe less than 4870.

Official board power is 188 watts, 27 at idle.

You know, save for the AMD logo, the extra monitor connectors, and the diagonally placed chip, the 5870 PCB looks remarkably similar to the GT200's PCB. :p

At least that's my layman's impression of it. :)

Well, it isn't so strange that two modern GPU PCBs look so similar, there only a few optimal placements for components after all :) Especially now that tolerances are becoming so small everything narrows down to the 'one true way' to make a GPU PCB layout.

Not complaining mind you but wow.......thats like an english translation of a german translation of chinese........lol

Some interesting stuff in there. Only 8 days away now.

That thing looks like one fat pile of parallel !!! Wonder how long before desktop chips start looking like that.

So we've got 1600 stream processors for sure? The eyefinity stuff looks mighty sexy. :)
