Hello guys!

I'm quite new on this forum and I already need your help. I just got my R7870 Twin Frozr graphic card.

Here's what I wanna do:

I'd like to use my HP LA2205wg as the middle monitor (connected via DVI), and 2x LG Flatron LA1919S as the right and left monitor (both have only VGA). Is it possible for me to connect the middle monitor via DVI and the side monitors with a mini DisplayPort - VGA adapter?

You should be able as long as you purchase on of the $30 active adapters that you can find on Amazon. A search of recent posts on eyefinity should give you all the specifics.
 
Will it work if I buy mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and than add a DVI - VGA adapter (because the miniDP - DVI are alot cheaper in my country)

So, like this:

Graphic card => miniDP/DVI adapter => DVI/VGA adapter => VGA cable => LG monitor

That will not work. Displayport outputs digital video exclusively, and unless the DP>DVI adapter has a DAC, which it almost certainly won't, you won't be able to get an analog VGA signal from it.

This being said, I do believe that there are straight DP>VGA adapters for sale. That's for you to find, though.

Aha, thank you for the information. I'm aware that there are straight DP>VGA adapters for sale, I was just trying to save a few bucks.

don't know any of the tech info behind it, but I have done dp to dvi then dvi to vga per adapter. used to use that exact config when I was running 3 26" lcd tvs

Can you tell us the exact model you used? Everything I've ever heard seems to point contrary to your results, so perhaps your adapter was special.
 
I don't have it any longer... I know it was bizlink... sorry, wish I could be more help.

The DP>VGA does seem to work, I picked up one off ebay for like $7 for that i figured it would be worth a shot. I think all DP>VGA are technically an active adapter:confused:
For me my screens are connected:
1) mini-DP>VGA
2&3) DVI>DVI

That's what I was saying. What I was saying wouldn't work was DP>DVI>VGA, which at least one guy seems to have gotten to work, but I think the vast majority of DP>DVI adapters do not support analog output, therefore, they don't support VGA adapters stacked on top of them.
 
Yep I agree, just miss read, you are correct in that statement.
