Well I'm planning to get the X2900XTX

But I know it requires 2x3 pin and one 2x4 pin power connectors...

I have a OCZ GameXtreme 700 watt PSU.

I only seem to have 2x3 pin Power connectors.

Do I need a new PSU?

I am also interested, is there an adaptor that is made for pcie, and not for the motherboard (12v 8pin)?

Edit: I came across a thread mentioning there 'should' be an 8 pin adaptor that comes with the cards. It converts 2 x 6pin pcie (75W each) into 1 x 8pin pcie (150W). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

This is going off sheer rumors, but its rumored that there will be a version that doesnt have the 8-pin connector, only 2 6-pin connectors. This version will not be overclockable, however.

As for adapters, I'm not sure. I dont think there was a market for them to even be created yet.

Actually it's been mentioned that the configuration is 6+6/8. Where 2 x 6pin connectors will power the card just fine but the 8 pin is needed for overclocking.

With power-hungry video cards becoming common, I'm wondering if it's feasible and more stable to run dual PSUs instead of one powerful unit. I used to run dual units in my old system which had two 15k HDs and a motherboard that required a proprietary PSU. I'm thinking this might be a better and safer way to go in the near future.

It's just a bunch of 12v's and grounds in a 8 pin connector. I'm sure there will be some sort of adapter included. Assuming your psu can supply the current you shouldnt have a problem.
