Wasn't the NDA supposed to end yesterday? Where are the reviews?!?!

grrr... if they don't come soon, I'm going to get nVidia out of spite

...and we are begining to wonder who gave VR-Zone the false information. Because it sure as hell was'nt ATi.

I can say this much there is a big stink with all the FUD going around about the R600 and I got a good feeling who is behind all of it.

Yeah! Conspiracies!

It's obviously a campaign waged by Nvidia focus group members. Which is good. If they're putting this much effort into it, they must be scared of something.

I'm thinking some information got crossed up between the 8800 ultra NDA and the R600 NDA.

I can tell you who is behind it, it's Google Adwords! Seriously, people will post any unsubstantiated rumour to drive up hits if there's such a strong financial incentive. Who wouldn't? It's like getting free money. No research, just post a few paragraphs of poorly wirtten schlock and you get thousands of hits. Contrast this to the hard hitting testing and research based articles HardOCP writes.

No need to look as far as Nvidia when the reason is right in front of you.

Even worse is that, judging by the response generated by the May 2 NDA rumour, this strategy pays off. We're hungry for information, and it's primarily people who are interested in the next generation of ATI cards reading this stuff and driving up those hits. Even if there is two or three spys working for Nvidia spreading rumours (seems highly unlikely) they wouldn't get anything done without the massive readerbase that eats this stuff up.

back on topic..

not sure if any of you guys have seen this, but its at the very top of the forum.

On the evening of May 10th, AMD is throwing a party in San Francisco for you! There will be demos of the soon-to-market Barcelona and Radeon 2900 XT as well as the chance the play SupCom on some of the newest AMD hardware. AMD staff will be there to answer your questions. Our own HardForum members will get priority and are encouraged to take pictures and post about the event. Please email Kyle@HardOCP.com with an invitation request for you and a guest. I will be there as well as other Web journalists to partake in the fun. You must be 21 and IDs will be checked at the door. See you there, Kyle!

Maybe this will give us a window into R600's performance and when cards will hit retail.

Think I'll be staying up late next Thursday waiting for the comments to come in from the pre-release party. Hope it clears up a bunch of rumors.

Personally I think the 2nd May rumour came from NV, definitely got people ready for a review or 2 on that day.
It's seldom a good idea to assert nefarious motives and conspiracies as an explanation when idiot fanboys with nothing better to do and an internet connection usually suffices.
