R600 Benchmarks

Hey for all those say it's fake - theres been an update to the 1st page

So there you have it, its not fake. ;)

Yea, cuz since we trusted him before, that means he's telling the truth.

That multi GPU think could come in handy. I'd like to see quad midrange GPU cards. Or the ability to put my run my X1800XT with an R600. (doubt that'll happen)

no point in debating it now. we will find out next month. now stop posting and go out. its new years eve, dammit.

If this was true, I would be really angry. Thank goodness it's not :D
I miss my ATi driver support over Nvidia's already :( .

Update - Authenticity Of This Article

This article is authentic. Our R600 sample is an RTM sample used in the MS CERT process for driver validation (especially for Vista). We are not publishing pictures of the card itself right now, as the card contains major ID tags that we can not remove yet for source protection. We will add pictures of the card itself once we can remove these tags.

Riiiiiight. ID Tags? Because they couldent just black/blur them out...

Photoshop or even Windows Paint could be used to hide the tags...
This article does not investigate
1) Image quality. (they vaguely talk about it but there is no games screenshots)
2) Power consumption, Noise & Heat
3) Driver stability and Image corruption

It is clear that this article is favorably biased towards ATI.
Even the writers admit that they work for ATI...
It is so easy to manipulate the results (like using High Quality to benchmark the NVIDIA cards instead of Ultra Hight) to favor a product.
It is why I need at least 3 or 4 independent reviews before making my mind on a product.

Like almost everybody I expect R600 to be faster than G80 but will only know that is a few weeks.

why shouldnt it be slower than the 8800gtx its gonna be released later, then smack nvidias then gonna release something faster than the r600. the neverending cycle will go on and on.. and even though im biased to ati, i found that the site is even more biased to ati than i was. i might as well go for a 8800gtx when the price gets in the 300-400 price range when the r600 is gonna be 500+

If these benchmarks are true then it's gonna be a similar year to last year. When the 7800GTX was king then ati came out with the X1800XT and it only beat the card by a few measly percent once all drivers were fully optimized. What I'm curious about is pricing and image quality on the new X2800XTX, Heat dissipation, power consumption amount of 6 pin connectors required etc... I'm holding off on upgrading until pci e 2.0 hits the market so I got 150watts from the pcie slot and I can avoid so many frickin power connectors into my card. SLi 8800GTX would be 4 Quad SLi 8800 (if possible) would probably require 8. When those mobos/chipsets come out I'll see if I'm gonna go SLi 8800 or sell my 8800 and go Crossfire X2800XTX/X2900XTX ;)

Perhaps someone should tell him that, if people think his article is fake, they will think that sentence is fake along with everything else in the article.

What would really be funny, however, is if he said "this article is fake".

Yea, this is definately fake. It's like the only article on the entire website, not to mention the fact that everything else is ads. It's just some guy looking to make money.

Even if the results were true, it wouldn't bold well for R600, granted Geforce 8800GTX will be nearly $100 less by the time R600 launches (and if the launch was in Jan., we'd already have heard something about it by now).

Oh, and did I mention there were no pictures, no specifications on what version of the card it was, and the fact that we've never heard of the website before.

So all-around, this is fake.
What a waste of a lot of peoples' time. This LVL505 site should get taken down asap. And if they do plan on continuing to review hardware parts in the future... Wow they will have some pretty darn bad reputation.. :D

As a 8800GTX owner, since day one, you don't want to even try to compare driver stablity. My money says we will have Vista drivers from day one with the R600; much more than can be said for NV and their completely rediculous drivers for the 8800.

All and all, the website appears to be very fake.

Does anyone know what version of the card they did these so called benchmarks on? the GDDR3 one or the GDDR4?

The site might be fake but the "benchmarks" don't look all that bad The 5% to 20% increase is not an unheard of achievment when bringing out a new GPU.

Based on how reliable that site is, I would say......GDDR5 :p

ATi has been sooo full of shit soo many times, its become hard to debunk the junk crap from the non-crap.

In this case, i call shins, I know first hand an 8800GTX does better then 19.5 FPS in oblivion at 1600X1200 even with some aa and af. (gee thanks for teling us the numbers the Level 505).

hmmm. ever herad of MS paint?

furthermore why would ATI give YOU the sample. why does FS, HOCP, Anand, Guru3d, xbit, etc etc not have any card as such? how did you obtain this copy?

For everyone to understand why we cannot just “black out” the ID Tags: The major tag is a fine punched hologram foil wrap which cannot be taken off because it is glued onto the front metal around the DVI ports. Taking off the fan is impossible without removing it. We will definitely keep you updated, and appreciate all comments we have received so far.

oohhh.... so sorri, me no speki de chinisu. :p
but seriously, i cant catch what their trying to say here, or at any point did they ever answer the question why they cant black out the tags?

anywho, its all mute to me. I cant afford the top models anyways. I Just ordered an 8800GTS, and am hoping that this card will put some heat on the 8800GTX and bring prices down, so i can exploit the full power of the Trade up program.

one 8800GTX is plenty for me, and all the games that I play.

New update;

Update - Site, Upcoming 2560×1600 Benchmark, Pictures

Happy new year! We are sorry that the site slowed down a bit. However, here are the great news: tomorrow we will be testing 2560×1600, and we will be able to provide limited pictures of the card approx. on January 5th/6th already.

I just sent ATI an email about this site, asking a few things... if they reply with anything interesting, I'll let ya know ;)

Good luck with that one.......

but seriously, i cant catch what their trying to say here, or at any point did they ever answer the question why they cant black out the tags?

When they say tags I don't think they mean a serial number here or there. It sounded more like the entire card is one big tag. It'd be like using photoshop to cover up all the red on a Sapphire/ATI card, there is really no point in even trying.

And it is possible they could have a card. There is no reason for any of the review sites to actually have one. However if the individuals on the site work for say Microsoft doing WHQL validation it is very possible they would have a card. The card wouldn't necessarily have to run at full speed. It could be a downclocked card with GDDR3 used just for a proof of concept demonstrating all DX10 features work. Driver validation can take months from when they are submitted so it's plausible they could have a card right now in order to get certified drives when the cards do release.

since when did a x1950xtx cf beat a 8800gtx in SLI?

i had a x1950xtx and a single 8800gtx be4 and it walked all over the x1950xtx. now i have the 8800's in SLI :D

I never believe benchmarks until they show up on a site I can even remotely trust.

lol it would be funny though if the review turned out to be legit later :p

Level505 site has crashed a few times today. They also changed their wordpress theme. Also, am I the only one who has noticed this is the only review or article they have ever done?

currently there undergoing site revamps. I hite refreash a couple times. Once i ended up with something that I coulda written in 20 mins in wordpad, once i ended up with the red styled thing, now im at a white background with blue banner. There just changing things up right now.

But as of right now, yes, under hardware, it says "1". so maybe this is the first.

Everyone has to start somewhere. It seems that, evenif this is all bull, they have created a little bit of traffic and got the name out there (postive or negative). So, the next time a Level505 article pops up, we might look again.

But, for $10 per month, you could set up a similar site at GoDaddy.

no point in biting toenails over it now. if you bought a 8800gtx, and this card turns out to be better, well it beez that way sometimes. so sell your gtx and buy one of those. who cares if its true or false?

everybody....go to the level505 site and look below the RSS feed link

you see the words "A Secret. Shh. Don't click."

click on those words

but its not like that has anything to do with whether the benchmarks are fake or not. just the same crap thats on a thousand other web sites.
guys get parts early all the time. there were guys on xs with es c2d's 6 months before release. kentfields also. these guys may have a card, or for some wacky reason went to the time and trouble to fake the tests to show that it performs better than some other cards. so what? the card will be available to the public eventually, and at that time it will or wont perform better than a 8800gtx or a bitboys 3dglaze or whatever. its kind of interesting that almost all the guys that own ati cards think its real, and just about all the guys who own nvidia cards think its fake.
