That might just mean in SLI, which is kind of pointless to say, since ATI has AMR alos

it doesn't say quadrupled...it says quad ru ped...i.e. a four legged animal...and equine I believe is the root of equestrian (sp?) which is just a horse...so basically they were just likening the R520 to a race horse...

That's the first thing I thought of, when I read that :p

I plan on getting a next gen card at least 6 months after it hits shelves. So the longer they wait the more money I can save. Besides my current card plays games just fine even without AMR-SLI-PCIe-POS.

I'd rather play at 1600x1200 with 2XAA and 16XAF since Riddick has tons of aliased textures which only higher resolutions can cure.

I do not see a large difference in IQ between the regular shadows it uses and Soft Shadows in the game.

haha...yeah I saw that picture of a motherboard...with no cards in it...and no benchmarks...and no official release date...and nothing seen or heard of it since...

the fact remains...there aren't even RUMORS of the performance of AMR yet...for something that's been whispered about on forums for 6 months...that's kinda wierd don't you think? I mean, seems like somebody somewhere would have seen it in action and leaked a little tidbit of info don't you think?

unless of course it's not working and the motherboards are collecting dust on warehouse shelves because ATi is taking forever to get the drivers straight...but who knows...;)

actually no...I'm just messing around...I think ATi knows precisely when they want to release AMR and R520...and all this delay nonsense is just the Inquirer reacting to the new rumor they heard from some mailboy at ATi from a friend of a friend of a friend...

Well, now that it took me a good 15 minutes to read this damn thread, I can respond.

I am in no way favored by ATI or Nvidia, I have owned both a 6800gt and an X800XL.

For those of you who don't see how big of a loss this is for ATI, your an idiot. People who have and like to buy the top of the line computer are usually pretty well off financially. This gives people who want to get the fastest solution SLI. This hurts ATI in the high end market.

Sure there are those people that say, but the X850XT PE is so close to SLI Ultra's but for a little more than half the price. Sure an X850XT PE is a great single card, on gaming and benchmarking it can't touch SLI Ultra's. Only a ATI !!!!!! will continue to buy the slower ATI alternative even though they may have the money to go SLI.

Now, down to the mid to low end video cards.... Show me right now, an alternative to the 6800gt. If you say the X800XL I will slap you right in the ass. I have owned both, and all I can say is I regret going to the damn XL. My 6800GT overclocked LIKE A DREAM. I was scoring 5000+ on 3D'05. When I switched to my damn XL I couldn't overclock it for crap, and my 3D'05 went down to 4500. The cooler on the X800XL is adequate for cooling my VCR. It is cheap metal that gets hot to the touch after some good gaming. The cooler on my 6800GT worked great, it kept the card at a reasonable 44*C at load.

Someone said earlier that the 9800XT is a direct competitor to the 6600GT... You must be insane. The 6600gt beats it in 99.9% of benchmarks, and is newer technology. So for about the same price you can get a slower ATI card with older tech, or a faster Nvidia card with newer tech. Again, only you ATI !!!!!!s would ever do something that dumb.

As for Fanatic, do you honestly think that ATI is going to have a chipset as good as NForce4 upon launch? You are insane, you said yourself that the Nforce chipset sucked when it came out, why won't ATI's? You seem to think that ATI is some magical company that only puts out the best products.. They will most likely flop upon release just like Nvidia and all other chipsets did when launched. Who knows they could put out the best chipset that we have ever seen, but I doubt it.

So after this LONG ass rant, all I have to say is that if ATI does not release cards to compete with SLI, 6800gt and 6600gt's, then they certaintly got their asses handed to them this round.

Last I checked ATI has not lost anything because this is speculation about a delay to an unreleased product. Lets get the facts straight first.

If ATI were to release the R520 and then delay it, this would be a loss. I will admit ATI will be in deep $hit if they don't get a new card released before September. When I say released, I mean on shelves at brink and mortar stores. The only thing holding me back from a 6800 SLI setup is the inferior image quality, lack of widescreen support, semi-annual driver releases, and no real value in SM3.0/HDR unless you want to lower your resolution.

Forgot to put this in my post. I meant to say at the top... "If all this is true" This could very well be false, but if its fact, it's gonna hurt ATI.

As for the faults in SLI, I hope they are fixed soon, because the lack of dual monitor is killing me too. I would have jumped all over 2 GT's in SLI if it wasn't for that. At the moment I dislike both video card companies.

I just want to say that crytek is a marketing fucking whore...they've jumped on every stupid new technology there is...and half the time it didn't even make a difference...like woohoo...a 64bit version of the game...never mind that there's absolutely no fucking difference...those guys are starting to annoy me...

64bit only content? that doesn't even make sense!!!

I don't think any of that new technology is stupid. It's called progress.

I'm more and more amazed at how flexible the CryEngine is allowing all these new technologies to be implemented, and the fact they are making an effort to do so.

Just based on everything they've acomplished with the CryEngine I can't wait to see their next game!

Well I'm impressed with the engine, don't get me wrong. It just seems like they're throwing in with every new technology that comes down the road and none of it has made a really big difference...it's cool that they're trying...but it just seems like they're trying way to hard to get attention...

I guess I shouldn't be so down on them...it is pretty cool of them to be right on top of all these new technologies...I just think it's lame when they provide exclusive content just so AMD can make an advertisement saying "SEE! Your games will look better with AMD64!!"...and i just find that obnoxious...
